Dubai is one of the seven emirates and the most populous city of the United Arab Emirates located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf. It is renown for it’s affluent, opulent lifestyle, Dubai hosts some of the most luxurious hotels and resorts in the world. It truly is created for the “rich & famous.”
Dubai has a hot and, at times, humid climate (drier during extreme heat) with many months recording temperatures of over 104°F (40 °C).
As Dubai is a world created for luxury indulgences, it should not surprise anyone that one of the newest hotels to open in 2009/2010, the Palazzo Versace, plans to refrigerate the beach located next to the hotel. A world’s first, the beach will be cooled via a system of heat-absorbing pipes built under the sand and giant wind blowers, designed to keep tourists cool in the heat. The hotel will be controlled by thermostats linked up to computers and feature a cooled swimming pool.
The president of the hotel said “We will suck the heat out of the sand to keep it cool enough to lie on. This is the kind of luxury that top people want.”
